Apple held an event on Oct, 23 in San Jose, Silicon Valley where the launch of iPad Mini took place. A complete new iPad Mini has been launched by Apple. This is the first pocket size tablet that Apple has produced with a 7.9 inches screen size. iPad Mini will have almost all the features that the full size iPad had. The device is much anticipated by the people because Apple is the one big thing that everyone looks for.
The device is 7.2mm thick and weighs 0.3kg which is much lighter and slim than the previous one. According to Apple’s vice president of marketing Phil Schiller the device is 23% thinner and 53% lighter than the previous iPad. The iPad Mini has a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and face detection to support a good photography experience and a front facing camera for video calling purposes.
Apple has dominated the market for years under Steve Jobs but now with its biggest competitors, the market is wide open for others to bring innovation and take away the spotlight. This could be the one reason for the short time period between launches of the third generation iPad and the fourth generation iPad.
Tim Cook said, “We told you earlier this year you would see some incredible innovations from Apple across the year. We think we kept our promise.”
When it comes to Apple’s competitors, Microsoft plans to release their Surface Tablet on 26th Oct. While Amazon and Google are already leading the tablet market with Kindle Fire and Nexus 7 respectively. Amazon is the big rival of Apple as they captured the market with 7 inch tablet at $200.
William Power, Baired Equity Research Analyst said, “When asked what the most they would pay for a smaller iPad was, our respondents on average said that they would pay $242 for a 7 inch iPad and $268 for a 8 inch iPad”
Will Apple be able to come back to the top again with its brand new iPad Mini? Or will the expectations of the users be ruined once more and will Apple’s competitors take away the spotlight?
